A jury will be extremely doubtful of the officer's observations, if a Bexar County DWI attorney can demonstrate that the officer has written reports with mistakes, that his testimony differs from the video, and that he did not perform the HGN test according to NHSTA specifications. [read post]

If Bexar County, for example, could lower its percentage of pretrial detainees to 34.5% from the current 58%, it would reduce the jail population by 935 inmates, eliminating the short-term crisis entirely.A county sheriff pulled me aside later to agree with me, and said he believed that too many judges these days were improperly using bail as punishment, which I thought was a good point.
