The new owner likely will have to do what Chrysler's corporate parent wouldn't, or couldn't, including slashing the work force, stalling improvements behind closed doors, and more cost-cutting measures, not the least of which is (just as the Unions fear) cutting wages for the people it keeps on board. Apparently so.Last fall DaimlerChrysler's Chief Financial Officer had said that he wouldn't rule out a sale of the Chrysler "arm" of DaimlerChrysler, only to have the corporation itself issue a press release the next day saying Chrysler wasn't for sale. [read post]

  Finally, as the WSJ notes, all the ILC applications that were pending with the Utah Department of Financial Institutions at the time the FDIC moratorium was put in place were also suspended, other than those by Home Depot (which Barney Frank thinks presents a much bigger problem than Wal-Mart) and Daimler Chrysler, and Utah has not yet accepted Wal-Mart's application. The trigger of that litigation was the remark and alleged misrepresentation by Schrempp that, following the initially claimed "merger of equals" of Daimler-Benz AG with Chrysler Corporation wasn't a merger but actually a takeover by the German company. [read post]

Not to be left out, even Chrysler has its corporate finger in the electric "pie" with its Global Electric Motorcars, although (perhaps because of the corporate bohemith's mentality that is behind them) their cars just don't look as cool.Okay, so you want something a little tamer, or maybe you just don't have an extra hundred grand laying around, well then there's plenty of less expensive electric cars to be had.
