In a 1996 affidavit, McQueen retracted this statement,saying that he had given it because he wanted to "get even" with Davisfollowing a confrontation he said the 2 of them had had.Monty Holmes testified against Troy Davis in a pre-trial hearing, but didnot testify at the trial because, according to a 2001 affidavit, he didnot want to repeat this false testimony. As Nick Holmes comments, the scene is really rather rosier than both the article and the comments seem to indicate.. in fact if you look at Charon QC's enormously usual single page of UK blawgers, there are many many blawgs I've never heard of or sadly never get the time to look at..Actualy IMHO I am quite staggegered how many laws practitioners (as opposd to we feeble academics) find time to maintain decent readable blawgs.  This is a tad disappointing but, as Geeklawyer recently pointed out, not entirely surprising given the pressures that lawyers in general tend to be under (billable hours really matter, by the way).As a result, I am a little sceptical about the possibility in the foreseeable future of a wiki-type 'free legal web', as envisaged by Nick Holmes (see the vision here), and also doubt whether there is sufficient impetus for the more fantastic-sounding vision of a Wikipedia… [read post]
