Before speaking further, I’d better make a few things clear: I’m not very smart; if I were, the bank that I helped charter in 1990 and ran for 16 years wouldn’t have been compelled to sell for virtually nothing in 2008, after being hit with loan repurchases from secondary market investors (most of which aren’t around anymore, if that’s any satisfaction).
