Very interesting piece by Sam Schulman in the Weekly Standard, drawing parallels between the pro-censorship "anti-hate-speech" phenomenon in the Western world today and the gag laws against abolitionists in pre-Civil War America, and also the 19th century blasphemy laws in British India whose successor statutes are used for persecution (sometimes for judicial murder) in Pakistan today.
