I personally met Douglas twice, once at a dinner honoring him, attended by about two dozen people, in my home in Lawrence, Kansas, before he made a speech at the University of Kansas, and once afterwards in his chambers (i.e., his office) for lunch when I was visiting Washington. [read post]
