It’s a funny situation, because the rationale for these residency restrictions — that keeping former sex offenders from living close to where children gather will deter further crimes — has not been challenged, even though there is no evidence to support it. - Yeah, most studies done show that most sex crimes occur in the victims own home or close family/friends, not by some stranger at a bus stop, day care, school, etc. [read post]
