Sadly, the competition did not attract as many entries as the Kat had hoped -- and the objects which competitors deemed worthy of being interred in the concrete foundations of WIPO Tower included several former employees of that organisation as well as a number of current members of the judiciary. He's trying to be a very big and grown-up Kat, but the IPKat is feeling extremely miffed about the fact that a hugely interesting Order emanated from the Court of Justice of the European Communities on 17 December and (i) it only seems to have come to light very recently and (ii) it's available in only 11 official languages of the European Union -- including Maltese -- but NOT English. The outcome will be familiar to anyone who has been following the s1(2) decisions coming out of the UK-IPO over the past couple of years, in that both appeals were dismissed.This Kat has not been able to distil any particular points to note from the judgment, mainly because he is concentrating more on other things. The Kats are poor statisticians, but they would love to know whether, of that 60%, (a) how many were the important ones and (b) how many were made available in English for any reason other than the fact that the AG had drafted them in English in the first place or because they must be issued in English as the language of the case.
