In February 2020, the OECD Secretary-General reported that measures connected to the taxation of the digital economy in the EU had contributed additional revenues summing €3 billion in 2015 and €4.5 billion in 2018.[8] The EU VAT directive on e-commerce is estimated to bring in an additional €7 billion each year once it is implemented.[9] These new rules are currently expected to come into force on July 1, 2021.
