NPR, which has been devoting a great deal of attention to the Blackwater story, has this article on its web site addressing proposed legislation to provide additional legal avenues for dealing with U.S. contractors in Iraq.The bill that the article discusses appears to be S. 674, sponsored by Senator Obama and co-sponsored by Senators Durbin and Whitehouse. From the Virginian-Pilot, a story about a settlement of Blackwater USA's trade secrets case against a former employee who was a cost analyst for the security firm.All civil and criminal charges have been dropped and the settlement is confidential.Blackwater had fired the analyst, Curtis Smith, and brought suit against him in Superior Court in Virginia.
