We’re hoping there’s room for at least one more BigLawyer – Lakshmi’s current paramour is Ted Forstmann, who is not only a former lawyer himself, but whose PE fund Forstmann Little uses plenty of firms (notably, Stephen Fraidin for the RJR Nabisco fight, who was at Fried Frank at the time but left some years ago for Kirkland & Ellis). On the other hand, Ted Frank argues: IF it's required to be mentioned in every scheduling order to avoid traps for unwary, then work doesn't expand to regularly file briefs at 11:45 PM, and it's more humane for attorneys. 25 years ago, briefs had to physically stamped before 5 pm. [read post]
