It's really good.In the end, maybe I'm overly effusive both because (1) I thought that every participant in the process was trying their absolute best here -- and, in general, I'm not at all sure that's uniformly the case, so I'm very glad (and a little bit surprised) to see it, and (2) in the end, substantial justice was accomplished. Judge Kleinfeld's opinion also raises some very good points: one of his best lines (though you gotta read the opinion to understand the context) is his argument that "someone driving his mother, a child of the sixties, to Thanksgiving weekend, and putting her suitcase in the trunk, should not have to open it and go through her clothes" in order to avoid being guilty of possession.
