It certainly rings true to those of us who've been through the massive loan participation workout wars of the 1980s, but we're smart enough to know that when the FDIC puts whatever assumptions it wants to put into "its little black box" that spits out cost calculations (as I once heard a former Federal Home Loan Bank Board general counsel describe it), the "costs" of any course of action the FDIC decides to take will turn out to be--Voila!
