The court accepted that English law recognises the principle established in the US judgment of Cumberland Bone Co v Andes Insurance Co 64 Me 466 (1874) that a purchaser has an insurable interest if it makes a payment or part-payment of the purchase price even if neither title nor risk has passes to the purchaser. The lawsuit, which was finalized last week in Cedar County Circuit Court, was filed by Ed and Ruth McEowen against Doug Mullings, who owned the hog barns; the Missouri Farmers Association, which supplied the hogs; North View Swine Co.; Tri-County Swine; and an insurer, the Missouri Farm Bureau.Read more here...
