  I just saw Kudisch on Broadway in "The Apple Tree," and his work has been almost entirely in the Broadway musical genre, to judge by the biography in the program, but on this occasion he measured up quite well to the operatic challenges of a leading G&S role - and this calls for a big, confident voice to project out into a big theater.
