If these reasons were not enough to justify affirmative action, research that Terry Adams, David Chambers and I did as well as some studies of medical school graduates indicates that members of minority groups are more likely than whites to serve their fellow minority group members; so it appears that affirmative action makes professional services more widely accessible than they otherwise would be.
