The news, uncovered by Bloomberg News, that the government actually gave banks access to even more free money (money that could be borrowed at essentially a zero rate of interest and that therefore could be used for completely risk free profits) than the liquidity provided by TARP was nicely trashed by Jon Stewart last night and is worth watching as a way to get to the big picture.
