Fresenius found that dosing errors with both products could cause a rise in the bloodstream’s bicarbonate content, which may lead to cardiac arrest in certain patients. 125,000 patients are given dialysis treatments in non-Fresenius clinics, including DaVita clinics, but DaVita was not informed of the problems with GranuFlo until four months after the alert was released.
