Yesterday the UK Competition & Markets Authority closed the original Microsoft-ActivisionBlizzard merger decision by issuing a final order based on its April 26 blocking decision, but simultaneously opened a new investigation of a modified version of the deal with a Phase 1 deadline on October 18 (which is also--and not coincidentally--the last day of the extended term of the merger agreement).
