King & Spalding should have recognized that their heart was not in defending DOMA, told Paul Clement as much, and called it a day, and they embarrassed themselves by accepting then rejecting the representation. [read post]

Neither is an especially big client of the firm (and both were probably with the firm because of Paul Clement rather than the firm's reputation, so would likely have followed Clement to Bancroft anyway), but more King & Spalding clients should consider carefully Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli's reasoning.
