Jobs' technique seems to be to treat them with quotation marks, using scare quotes to make his sometimes not so subtle point, as he does here: Since Apple does not own or control any music itself, it must license the rights to distribute music from others, primarily the "big four" music companies: Universal, Sony BMG, Warner and EMI. Music & Copyright has calculated that despite suffering a decline in its publishing share last year, to 22.2%, from 22.6% in 2010, UMPG remained the world’s biggest music publisher, ahead of EMI Music Publishing, which was second largest with a market share of 19.3%. [read post]
