Consumers are fooled to believe that a mark signifies high quality through marketing ploys and the fact that consumers are willing to pay higher prices for popular marks does not ensure a higher quality of good.Although Landes & Posner "merely sketch" an answer to these arguments, I believe that the reasoning outlined above is sound and still persuasive.
