Virginia Tech lost its season opener 27-22 to East Carolina last year and they will probably lose their opening game this year as well, although under Beamer's coaching, Virginia Tech always gets better and better as the season progresses (the Hokies are one of three FBS teams to win 10 games each of the last five seasons - the others are USC and Texas).
