When you're legally compelled to enter into such proceedings, they're covered, at least for your run-of-the-mill arbitration in the current legal milieu.So while I understand where Justice Ikola comes from, and again agree with the disposition of this particular case, I would disagree with his foundational premise.   With a lot of background facts that read more like they're from a PhD dissertation about California agriculture in the 1800s than a judicial opinion from 2020.I'm not way persuaded that no one would buy this land (for farming or otherwise) and rely solely upon (as one witness testified) the "water from above" to irrigate crops (or water from below -- i.e., a well -- to satisfy these or other needs). The Court of Appeal, partially reversed, based upon its interpretation of the relevant statute.The California Supreme Court then granted review.Now, in that tribunal, we're not willing to simply let one side argue the case without someone representing the contrary position. [read post]

If Nevada wants judgments to expire after six years (if they're not renewed during the relevant Nevada time frame), why would Nevada allow a plaintiff to circumvent this rule by registering the judgment elsewhere and then "bouncing it back" long after the expiration of the underlying Nevada judgment?
