On Sept. 5, Alexander Ciccolo, a 26-year-old from Boston, was sentenced to 20 years in Massachusetts federal district court for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State by planning an attack on a state university, as well as one count of attempting to use weapons of mass destruction, one count of being a convicted felon in possession of firearms, and one count of assaulting a nurse with a deadly weapon during a jail intake process.
