Unfortunately, I was doing myself a disservice by inadvertently perpetuating my ignorance after following the advice of a high school guidance counsellor to go into Agriculture to study Plant Ecology… all because of an ill-informed lofty career goal of working to save the environment (this was early 1990’s and David Suzuki’s warnings about the environment reigned supreme on the CBC – Canadian Broadcasting Corporation television). The SEC’s order concerning Morgan Stanley finds that the firm willfully violated Sections 10(b) and 15(g) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10b-5(b) thereunder, censures the firm, and orders it to pay approximately $138 million in disgorgement, approximately $28 million in prejudgment interest, and an $83 million civil penalty.
