The court noted that the text of one of the statutes specifically states the legislature's intention to fund "battered women" programs for members of the "lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community," but neither the statute nor the court, for that matter, mentions the problem of domestic violence within the gay male community, which has been the subject of feature reporting in gay news media in recent years.
