According to the settlement, announced Tuesday, Horsehead will pay $15,000 in penalties for past violations, donate 15 acres of ecologically significant land along Raccoon Creek to the Independence Conservancy along with $15,000 to manage the land, and give $10,000 to the Center for Healthy Environments and Communities at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh for clean water education efforts.
