 [Although admittedly not having poured over Victorian patent law precedent, the AmeriKat read both Hatmaker v Joseph and Re Alsop's Patent and could not discern a logical evolution between the dicta in either case, especially Hatmaker, and what ultimately resulted in what became the Canadian Promise Doctrine -  a task for another time...].Although dead in English law, the Doctrine found a new home in Canada.
