On 26 May 2023 the managing judge, Fancourt J, handed down judgment in the case of Grant v News Group Newspapers Ltd (Re Mobile Telephone Voicemail Interception Ligitation) [2023] EWHC 1273 (Ch)  The judge dismissed the Sun’s application for summary judgment in relation to illegal information gathering but allowed the application in relation to the phone hacking parts of the claim on “limitation” grounds.
