While saying that his office will defend California's marriage law against San Francisco's gay marriage initiative, California Attorney General Bill Lockyer Saturday balked at Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Friday letter to him (reported yesterday in JURIST's Paper Chase) which specifically directed that he take "immediate steps" to get a judicial resolution of the issue.
