Use of FBS in Cognitive Malingering The use of the Fake Bad Scale to support cognitive malingering may violate the National Academy of Neuropsychology published methods for assessing symptom validity which states “Invalid performance on a measure of personality” (such as the MMPI in this case) “cannot be used, a priori, to determine malingering of cognitive tests.
