But no one came to retrieve them and so they sank slowly (retaining the folding) into the bog which preserved them for over 2000 years.The bottom stone looks almost like an iron for ironing clothes or fabric, i.e. something to slide along a surface, and in my opinion the upper two smaller stones appear to be made to fit exactly on top of the larger stone.
