On July 19, 2021, the United States Department of Justice and the California Department of Justice announced that they reached a $37.5 million settlement with a California hospital company, Prime Healthcare Services, and two physicians to resolve a variety of allegations, including that the hospital company paid kickbacks to the physicians to get referrals from one of them.
