  Using the 2018 year-end number of exchange-listed U.S. publicly traded companies (4,406),  and subtracting from the 404 federal court securities class action lawsuits the 22 suits that were filed against non-exchange listed defendants (for example, OTC and cryptocurrency companies), leaving 382 lawsuits against listed defendants, calculates to a 2019 litigation rate of 8.66%.
