Thanks in part to the California Leafy Green Marketing Agreement rules, at least there is now research interest in how exactly to pasteurize different manures for conventional agriculture [for Salmonella, see (5)].Since it is not an obvious step to feed brains or manure back to cattle, where did this come from?
