  The June issue of Harpers has a good article on the issue from a religious point of view in Turning Away from Jesus:  Gay Rights and the War for the Episcopal Church by Garret Keizer, but it's not online yet.There is a good 1996 article on the issue in Harpers here, however.I must say there's something about the public debate that has always confused me.
