From 9-11 or so this morning, Judge Gilstrap and Judge Payne conducted status conferences in Marshall for approximately 84 patent cases, following their first status conference in April (of which only the first eight appear to be pre-AIA, and not all of those still have multiple defendants). But today Marshall's new magistrate judge Roy Payne working downstairs from Judge Gilstrap (on the first day his law clerk reported for work, I must note) issued his first Markman ruling (actually a provisional ruling in line with recent practice from other judges in Tyler) as to nineteen claim terms 51 hours after concluding the hearing Monday morning.
