    As we stated in an earlier blog entry, a step down clause is a provision in a corporate or business auto insurance policy that states that when an NJ auto accident occurs involving an employee of that business in a company vehicle, the employee's uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage on their own personal auto insurance policy may "kick in".
