Affixing a bump stock to a semiautomatic weapon allows a shooter to fire multiple times with a single "pull" of the trigger; the bump stock manages recoil so that the trigger reengages continuously until the shooter releases their grip on the barrel or they're out of ammo, allowing them to fire an estimated 400 to 800 rounds per minute compared to 180 without.
