How many recent actions in the Commercial Court involve contested issues of private international law remains a matter of speculation until they go to trial, as many will not, given the tendency of commercial disputes to settle.6 The nature of arbitrated disputes is even harder to discern, given the privacy of the process.7 Such caveats aside, the rise in pending disputes in London gives pause for thought, and begs intriguing questions.
