Most obviously, FBI Director James Comey’s late intervention in the election (along with his prior gratuitous efforts to vilify Clinton even as he declined to prosecute her) was almost surely enough to have changed the result.Of course, Comey’s irresponsible actions only had traction because of the mainstream press’s willingness to sensationalize and distort the whole email-server story in the first place.
