From this perspective, it is irrelevant that white people cannot reasonably be considered a group unable to take care of itself in the political process, and it also (seemingly) irrelevant whether the Framers of the Fourteenth Amendment understood they were protecting white persons and disavowed race-based affirmative action (which they did not).
