It's rare to read an opinion regarding a trial in a routine civil case -- here, an automobile accident involving the LAPD -- in which (1) the Court of Appeal reverses the jury's finding of no liability on multiple grounds, all of which are fairly pedestrian (application of requests for admission, limitation of cross-examination, whether a percipient witness deposition was admissible because the witness was unavailable, etc.), and (2) I find myself repeatedly saying to myself "Yes.
