Lots of people die in "Best American Essays" this year-- people's parents, Sam Pickering's dog, Adam Gopnik's daughter's pet fish, Susan Sontag, Saul Bellow-- but the saddest of the lot is Marjorie Williams, whose first person account about dying of cancer damn near made me cry when I read it for the first time last year, and almost did it again this afternoon.
