  But perhaps the most authentic and memorable meal I enjoyed in Sao Paulo was the bowl of feijoado, a traditional stew of black beans, beef and pork served with rice and cabbage, which I enjoyed for lunch Wednesday afternoon (the dish traditionally is served on Wednesdays and Saturdays for reasons no one could explain to me), as depicted in the picture below (the beans are in the bowl).
