My inspiration for trying to use the interpretive stance with artificial agents draws heavily on Daniel Dennett, but also on Richard Rorty’s treatment of classical philosophical problems in The Mirror of Nature; my philosophical outlook is currently most inspired by the triad of Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and Freud, a triad who do not fit comfortably into the Anglophone analytic tradition that Andrew thinks I’m a card-carrying member of.
